I've decided to shake things up a bit with game reviews
1. Bioshock
As I just bought a new pc the beginning of this year, SPECIFICALLY for lag-proof play of Counterstrike, I also got it to preview Bioshock (the first release) from
Steam. You must enter your birthdate which I don't understand but the game is great! You have the option to use your xbox controller instead of the mouse which is the only reason I will purchase any piece of the xbox. I'll have to get my boyfriend into it so I can play it on his mac pro when he leaves me in the house alone. A game set around an atlantis in 1960s style (my favorite era, as Fallout is quite similar), you fight some really deranged malformed people, I haven't gotten far into it, nor have I read jack about the game, so I don't know what the premise is yet. I just played a demo of it and instantly was in love, I didn't have to read a review by some 12 year old "l33t kid". And I don't care if people call me a "n00b" which they usually say that because I have "b00bs" they will never get. I act on my own accord, I don't look to the media to know what's good and what isn't. And this game, is excellent!
2. Men Of War
Most definitely a sight for sore eyes. Also available on
Steam, men of war is a direct control type multiplayer game. You can play single, which I prefer better, I like to beat the computer. But as far as the controls I like them, selecting allies and telling them where to go as opposed to trying to control an entire platoon (?) with your arrow or "W,A,S,D" keys. Most would think these controls are hard, but they aren't. If you know where you need to place your men, and you don't have A.D.D. meaning you can multi-task, you can play this game easily. You sometimes have to somewhat control one guy at a time, say you need to take out a tank, you'll need a soilder who has an anti-tank grenade, click him, and then the grenade that becomes highlighted and click somewhere below the tank and(BANG)
dead as a squirrel on the freeway.
3.The Path
Last but most certainly not least, The Path. You guessed it available on
Steam. The demo does not give you any gameplay whatsoever, it only displays the CAD class project-like graphics. Looks like it might be a bit scary though. Apparently, the motive here is to get to g-ma's house, and don't go off the path. I played this once, staying on the path. BORING! So I decided to break that rule and go off the path into the forest on the left, NOTHING, So I crossed the path to the forest on the right, I found 18 twinkly flowers and a burned tee-pee(tent, I just like to say tee-pee) before they teleported (maybe deported) me back onto the path and forced me onward to the last scene which is walking into the old hag's house. They did good I must admit with the 1990-esque graphics, if I were their CAD professor I'd give them a B-. So anywho, not much I can say about this game besides the fact that it is more like American Mcgee's Alice rather than what they claim to do, "Picking up where Silent Hill left off", I saw the preview video since they didn't give much depth in the game. It's called a "prologue" for crying out loud, if that doesn't scream "ALICE", I don't know what does. The goth type girls don't help them stay away from that either, but I'll give it a chance because it's an Indie game, and I like my Indie games. Which reminds me there is one called "Amnesia" that is supposed to come out in August I think. The
preview video has got me jones-in.
